Critical Minerals Stockpiling: Assumptions, Gaps and Realities
Government stockpiling of critical minerals is back in focus, but is it necessary? Effective stockpiling is a risk management strategy linked to understanding markets and supporting a country’s manufacturing industry. Stockpiling is not a new concept, and several countries have stockpiled metals in the past, reflecting strategy anchored in manufacturing and supply chain realities. This talk explores why a strategic approach should be applied when considering “critical” metal stockpiling and what needs to be considered to make a stockpile effective.
