A Conversation with Maureen Jensen: Mining, Markets and Governance - What I have learned over the past 45 years

Maureen Jensen is the past Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC). She was the first woman to lead the OSC and was a fierce advocate for investor protection and a champion for reducing the regulatory burden on businesses.

Ms. Jensen served as the Executive Director and Chief Administrative Officer of the OSC from 2011 – 2016, prior to her appointment as its Chair and CEO serving from 2016 – 2020. Before joining the OSC, Ms. Jensen was SVP, Surveillance and Compliance at IIROC from 2008 – 2011. Prior to the merger of the IDA and MRS, to form IIROC in 2008, Ms. Jensen was President and CEO of Market Regulation Services Inc., the independent national market regulation services provider for Canadian equity markets and previously held the position of VP Market Regulation, Eastern Region. Ms. Jensen has held senior regulatory and business positions at the Toronto Stock Exchange, and prior to that had a 20-year career in the mining industry, holding both executive and technical management positions with several resource companies.

Ms. Jensen holds a BSc., is a Registered Professional Geoscientist (P. Geo), holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors, a GCB.D from Global Competent Boards and has a Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa). She is currently Chair of OBSI, a Director of Franco-Nevada Corporation and is a Public Governor on the board of FINRA in the US. She has served on many private, not for profit and public company boards.
