The Nevada Chapter has finalized plans for the 2011 WIM National Convention. The convention, scheduled for May 19th thru the 21st is going to be held in Sparks, Nevada at John Ascuaga' s Nugget. Sparks is part of the Reno metropolitan area and the Nugget is one ofReno's premier properties. The facilities are 1st class, the food will be fabulous and the rooms comfortable and inexpensive at the same time!

We have tried hard to leave enough time for the meetings as well as provide tours, events and dinners that will be fun for all. Thursday will be the WIM Foundation meeting followed by an Education Foundation Training Session focused on bringing all our members into the "Training Mode" by demonstrating our new hands-on activities on a variety of topics important to the mining industry. The day will finish with a cocktail party next to the pool at the Nugget. Friday will include a mine tour of an open pit gold mine, a tour of a geothermal power plant and some fun time in Virginia City, Nevada. Saturday will be the main meeting day that will finish with a cocktail party at the Keck Museum at the Mackay School of Mines followed by dinner at Louie's Basque Corner, an authentic Basque restaurant in Reno with entertainment.

All the information including the meeting schedule, registration form and hotel reservation link can be
found on the WIM Website.

Please mark your calendars for the 2011 National Convention. Room rates at the Nugget are good for 3 days before the convention and three days after so if you wish to take in Lake Tahoe or any of the other attractions in the area you can come early or stay over. A free shuttle from the airport to the Nugget runs hourly. A link has been set up to the Nugget from our website so you can make room reservations online! The link as well as the phone number for the Nugget are also on the registration form. For additional questions ca111-866-537-9694 Ext 3.

We look forward to seeing many of you there and if any of our International WIM members happen to be in the
area, we encourage them to come.
